Opening the playoffs with a 19-13 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Foster rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries. It was an impressive performance. The Bengals (10-7) are no cream puffs on defense, and defensive tackle Geno Atkins is one of the best in the business. But the Texans’ offensive line still opened holes for Foster, and he ran with power and passion.

But after Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, Reed insisted that his sole focus was on next week's game at Denver, not his future. |

French Onion Soup Recipe Details
Spread the baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake them for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly browned and hard.Heat a large saute pan over medium heat for several minutes. Spread the onions evenly in the pan, along with 2 of the bay leaves, and let them sit untouched for a couple of minutes. Drizzle the oil evenly over them and dot with butter. Do not stir them for several minutes. (The goal is to let some of the onionâs moisture evaporate and to get some good color on the onions at the start. Once you stir, water will be released, and the caramelizing will end until that water evaporates.)Stir the onions, using a flat-edged wooden spoon to scrape up all the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to medium and let the onions cook, stirring often, for 20 to 25 minutes, until they are golden brown and nicely caramelized.Transfer the onions to a large pot and add the 2 remaining bay leaves, the onion powder and the stock. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to medium and let the soup cook, uncovered, for 15 minutes, adjusting the heat to keep it at a very slow boil.Position a rack in the upper Doudoune Moncl {keyword} er Enfant third of the oven and preheat the broiler to high. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and place 8 onion soup crocks on it.Stir the port and thyme into the hot soup, and ladle it into the crocks, stopping a half-inch short of their rims. Float 2 or 3 slices of baguette on top: You want to cover the surface of the soup without the bread overlapping. Combine the Gruyere and fontal cheese {keyword} in a small bowl. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the cheese mixture evenly over the toasts in each crock (donât skimp!) and broil for 3 or 4 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and well browned. Serve immediately.

Image Credit: Murray CloseFrom a human-vampire hybrid to a pair of precocious love birds, these kids stole the show in some of this year s biggest flicks. The peewee actors mirrored their strong-willed characters strengths, stirring Oscar buzz for several of their roles in 2012.5. Pierce Gagnon in LooperNot since Haley Joel Osment s performance in The Sixth Sense has a child actor been able to successfully play equal parts adorable and creepy. Costar Emily Blunt, the five-year-old s mother in the film, said the air shifted in the room when Gagnon read for the role. Well, he certainly introduced an air of innocence to the time-travelling sci-fi thriller s intense scenes.4. Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward in Moonrise KingdomWes Anderson is prone to casting precocious children in his comedies, but 12-year-olds Gilman and Hayward, who are now 13 and 14, respectively, stand apart from their predecessors. The young lovebirds ruled the film, stealing screen time from the likes of Bill Murray, Edward Norton, and Bruce Willis. They depict their characters innocent romance with nonchalance and beauty fit for a Wes Anderson flick.3. Mackenzie Foy in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2It s a tall order to play the child of Edward and Bella. But the 11-year-old girl in the center of it all shined alongside her famous fictional parents.2. Quvenzhané Wallis in Beasts of the Southern WildIt s only fitting that her character s father refers to her as boss and man in this Louisiana-set mythical drama. Just as her on-screen persona effortlessly endures family turmoil, natural disasters, and wild creatures, the 6-year-old pint-sized heroine, who s now 9, carries the entire movie on her far from Atlas-sized shoulders. Wallis beat out 3,500 kids for the role and could potentially beat out her much older peers to nab a best actress Oscar come February, which would make her the youngest winner in history.1. Amandla Stenberg in The Hunger Games We may have been cheering for Katniss, but it was 13-year-old Stenberg as doomed tribute Rue who stole our heart.Written by Erin Strecker and Maane KhatchatourianMore Best of 2012:

Thatâs because at a time when bookstores â mainstream and indie â are struggling to stay open and when top publishing houses are scrambling to keep footing in a rapidly changing industry, there is one bright spot in the publishing industry: self-publishing.The latest e {keyword} vidence of self-publishingâs ascendency? book critic , one of the countryâs most influe {keyword} ntial, and often scathing, critics, chose as one of her favorite books of the year, a landmark moment for self-publishing.Sharing shelf space with , , and on Kakatuniâs most prized picks of the year is Alan Sepinwallâs âThe Revolution Was Televised: The Cops, Crooks, Slingers and Slayers Who Changed TV Drama Forever.â Sepinwall, a TV blogger, self-published the book in November after failing to catch the interest of a traditional publisher.
